What does a digital signature mean?

Code signing identifies the publisher to Windows and makes later changes to a signed file detectable. The current direct download is distributed without a commercial code-signing certificate, so Windows may display a system notice on first launch. Every file can still be independently checked against its published SHA-256 value.

Framework-dependent

Compact packages

This section is reserved for a future smaller download. Such packages would require an existing .NET Desktop Runtime installation. For now, we recommend the self-contained packages with the runtime included.
